PROJECT INFORMATION

The Savannas State Park Bike Path / Trail project consists of the construction and improvement of approximately 4.219 miles of shared-use bicycle and pedestrian trail along the Savannas SUN Trail corridor, extending from Lennard Road to the Savannas Recreation Area within Savannas Preserve State Park. The work includes removal and replacement of existing concrete and sidewalk segments, installation of ADA-compliant detectable warning surfaces, pavement markings, regulatory and wayfinding signage, and site restoration within disturbed areas. All work is being completed in accordance with FDOT standards and project-specific requirements, with careful attention to environmental protection, erosion and sediment control, and endangered species protection measures.

CONNECTIVITY THROUGH NATURAL PRESERVATION

This project improves recreational access and multimodal connectivity within Savannas Preserve State Park while preserving the surrounding natural environment. By integrating safety, accessibility, and wayfinding enhancements with environmentally sensitive construction practices, the trail creates a more functional and user-friendly corridor for pedestrians and cyclists while supporting the long-term protection of the park’s valuable natural resources.
