PROJECT INFORMATION

The Liberian Agricultural Company commissioned a new office complex in Monrovia, Africa, with a design tailored to regional climate, resource availability, and cost-effective construction. The main office building includes a welcoming lobby, a large conference room, six private offices, an open work area to foster collaboration, and restrooms with integrated showers and changing rooms. To address infrastructure challenges, the design features a cistern system to help offset water usage from the building’s plumbing systems.

SUSTAINABLE SITE DESIGN UTILIZING LOCAL BUILDING METHODS

The structure was built using Stabilized Soil Blocks (SSB), a locally sourced blend of site soil, cement, and water that offers both durability and affordability—making it a sustainable solution well suited to the area. Beyond the main office, the compound includes a warehouse for agricultural supplies, a dedicated generator building for backup power, and a guard house to provide site security. The thoughtful site layout and use of regional building practices support the company's operations while respecting local resources and context.
